Planning materials laid out before building a website

The biggest delays in website projects are rarely technical — they come from waiting for photos, text and decisions. Preparing these first makes the whole project faster and the result better.

1. Your main goal

What should a visitor do? Call you, book, message you on Messenger, request a quote, or buy online? One clear goal shapes every page.

2. Your pages

Most small businesses need: Home, About, Services (or Products/Menu), Gallery, FAQ and Contact. Start small — you can always add pages later.

3. Your text

  • A short description of what you do and who you serve.
  • Your services or products with a sentence or two each.
  • Common questions customers ask you.
  • Your address, phone, email, opening hours and social media links.

Rough notes are fine — a good developer or copywriter can polish them, but only you know the facts about your business.

4. Your photos and logo

Real photos of your place, products and team build far more trust than stock images. Take them in good light, horizontally, with a modern phone. Send your logo in the highest quality you have (ideally a PNG with a transparent background or a vector file).

5. Your accounts

  • Your domain name (registered in your own name).
  • Your hosting, if you already have one.
  • A business email address for the contact form.
  • Your Google Business Profile and Facebook page.

6. Examples you like

Collect two or three websites you like (even from other industries) and note what you like about each: the colours, the layout, the photos, how easy it is to contact them.
